Dr. Karen C. Kim is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Stanford, Division of Gastroenterology, with over a decade of clinical experience.
Dr. Kim earned her medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine, followed by Internal Medicine training at Case Western Reserve, and gastroenterology fellowship

Prior to returning to Stanford, Dr. Kim spent 11 years with the Guthrie Medical Group in upstate New York, where she served as an attending gastroenterologist and Medical Director of Endoscopy at the Ithaca clinic. During her time at Guthrie, she also served as teaching faculty for the gastroenterology fellowship program at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital and was instrumental in physician leadership, serving on the Guthrie Board of Directors and founding the Guthrie Women's Leadership Council.
At Stanford, Dr. Kim serves as the Medical Director for the Enterprise Contact Center. Her clinical focus isimmune-related adverse events (irAEs) associated with checkpoint inhibitor therapy, particularly gastrointestinal manifestations. She serves on the Clinical Competency Committee for Stanford’s GI Fellowship. She also serves as a council member and Co-Chair of the Health Tech and AI Committee for the Santa Clara County Medical Association.
